Are you a skilled machinist looking to elevate your career in a dynamic and collaborative environment? Our client in Lawrence, MA is seeking a talented individual to join their team, working in a fast-paced tool room setting. You'll be responsible for building and repairing tools and die components using both manual and CNC equipment, while contributing to innovative production solutions.
Responsibilities of the Machinist
Set up, program, and operate CNC and manual machines, including lathes, drill presses, saws, and grinders.
Maintain machine components in excellent working condition.
Ensure all tooling aligns with safety standards and regulations.
Sharpen and maintain knives, scissors, and other cutting tools.
Service steel rule dies by sharpening blades and replacing punches.
Perform basic mold repairs, such as fixing marks, updating date codes, and crafting simple tools.
Read and interpret blueprints and other tool design documentation accurately.
Fabricate and modify basic tooling and components as needed.
Recommend process improvements to supervisors to improve efficiency.
Conduct basic inspections to ensure precision and quality.
Use a variety of hand and power tools effectively for various tasks.
Requirements of the Machinist
Must be at least 18 years old and hold a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
3-5 years of hands-on machining experience within fast-paced manufacturing settings.
Proficiency in understanding sophisticated manual and CNC machines, including vertical and 3-axis milling, lathe/mill combination machines, and engine lathes operations.
Ability to read, write, and speak English.
Strong organizational skills.
Basic math skills.
Legal authorization to work in the United States (sponsorship will not be provided).
Strong teamwork skills with a proven ability to collaborate effectively in dynamic environments.
Ability to stand and walk for up to 8 hours per day.
Capability to lift at least 20 lbs. to transfer material to a scale or table.
Ability to reach into tight spaces within a machine.
