Job Description
The Quality Mechanical Inspector is responsible for ensuring precision-machined components and assemblies meet all customer and internal quality standards. This role performs first article, in-process, and final inspections using both manual inspection tools and CMM equipment. The ideal candidate brings strong GD&T knowledge, attention to detail, and a commitment to accuracy in a fast-paced precision manufacturing environment. This position works closely with production and quality teams to support continuous improvement and defect reduction initiatives.
Responsibilities
Perform first article, in-process, and final inspections on machined parts and assemblies
Operate and program Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) and use precision measuring tools
Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and customer specifications
Document inspection results accurately and support nonconformance investigations
Collaborate with quality and production teams to improve first-pass yield and reduce defects
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required
5+ years of inspection experience in a machining or precision manufacturing environment
Strong understanding of GD&T and blueprint interpretation
Experience operating and programming CMM equipment
Proficient with precision inspection tools and basic computer applications (Excel, Word)
