We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Estimator to support preconstruction and bidding efforts for commercial projects. The Estimator will be responsible for analyzing drawings and specifications, performing quantity takeoffs, gathering subcontractor pricing, and preparing competitive estimates. This position requires strong analytical skills, effective communication, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities of the Estimator
Analyze project plans, specifications, and bid documents to prepare accurate cost estimates.
Perform detailed quantity takeoffs across all scopes of work.
Solicit, review, and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing.
Assist with preparation of bid packages and proposal documents.
Maintain and update estimating software, cost databases, and historical pricing records.
Identify scope gaps, cost risks, and value engineering opportunities.
Collaborate with project management and senior estimators during preconstruction.
Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and post-bid reviews.
Qualifications for the Estimator
2–5 years of experience in commercial construction estimating or preconstruction.
Proficiency with estimating software such as On-Screen Takeoff, iSqFt, Sage Estimating, Bluebeam, or similar.
Strong understanding of construction drawings, materials, and building methods.
Excellent mathematical, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple estimates simultaneously.
Familiarity with retail, industrial, medical, and office projects preferred.
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.
