Position Title: Lead Microsoft Cloud Engineer Consultant
Location: Holyoke, MA (Hybrid preferred; remote may be considered for the right candidate)
Full time Long Term Contract Opportunity

We’re seeking a Lead Microsoft Cloud Engineer Consultant to support an Enterprise Systems/Infrastructure team with modernization and security-focused improvements across Microsoft cloud and identity platforms. This role is ideal for a hands-on technical lead with deep expertise in Windows Server, Active Directory, Entra ID (Azure AD), M365, Exchange, and Azure, along with strong PowerShell automation skills.

Key Responsibilities:  

• Lead architectural assessments, analysis, and design for Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, Azure, and hybrid identity environments.  
• Deliver security hardening and configuration improvements with a focus on security, compliance, and operational resilience.  
• Drive M365 / Exchange Online / Azure migration initiatives (planning, coexistence, cutover strategy, phased adoption).  
• Partner with stakeholders to run proof-of-concept efforts and guide adoption through implementation.  
• Strengthen Zero Trust alignment, Conditional Access, MFA, identity governance, and privileged access practices.  
• Ensure strong backup/recovery and disaster recovery validation for identity, messaging, and Windows Server services.  
• Create documentation including architecture diagrams, runbooks, and technical standards.

Qualifications: 

• 10+ years working with Microsoft infrastructure technologies in enterprise environments (architecture, deployment, modernization).  
• Expert knowledge of Windows Server & Active Directory (forest/domain design, GPO, replication, troubleshooting, security hardening).  
• Deep experience with Entra ID, M365, Exchange (on-prem & online) and hybrid identity integrations (Entra Connect/Sync, SSO/auth patterns).  
• Proven leadership on cloud and messaging migrations (M365, Exchange Online, Azure).  
• Advanced PowerShell automation across AD/Entra/Exchange Online and related admin workflows.  
• Strong background in Zero Trust / identity security (Conditional Access, MFA, identity lifecycle, PIM).  
• 5+ years leading complex IT projects; familiarity with Agile/DevOps/ITIL helpful.

Preferred / Nice-to-Have:

• Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field (or equivalent hands-on experience).  
• Experience with automation/IaC tools (e.g., Ansible, Git-based config management, CI/CD).  
• Microsoft certs (Azure, M365, Entra ID, Windows Server) strongly preferred.  
• ITIL, PMP, or other cloud/security credentials a plus.
