Job Title: 3rd Shift Senior Maintenance Mechanic Position Summary The 3rd Shift Senior Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing facility equipment during overnight operations. This role serves as a high-level technical resource on shift, ensuring minimal downtime, safe operations, and continuous improvement of mechanical systems. The position requires some diagnostic skills and independent decision-making.
Schedule
Third Shift – Sunday – Friday morning (10pm – 6:30am)
Key Responsibilities
Perform troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance on mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems
Diagnose equipment failures and determine root causes to prevent recurrence
Maintain production equipment including motors, gearboxes, conveyors, pumps, compressors, and automated machinery
Interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals
Respond quickly and effectively to emergency breakdowns
Conduct preventive and predictive maintenance inspections
Document repairs, parts usage, and downtime accurately in CMMS
Ensure compliance with safety regulations, lockout/tagout procedures, and company policies
Coordinate with production supervisors to prioritize maintenance activities
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or associate degree preferred
5+ years of industrial maintenance experience
Advanced knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and basic electrical troubleshooting
Experience with PLC-controlled equipment (troubleshooting level preferred)
Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics
Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, precision measuring instruments, and diagnostic equipment
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs
Comfortable working in industrial environments including noise and heat
