Shipping and Receiving Manager

Location: Boston, MA
Shift: 1st Shift
Pay: $70,000–$90,000 annually, depending on experience

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Shipping and Receiving Manager to lead 1st shift warehouse operations in Boston, MA. This position is responsible for overseeing the daily flow of inbound and outbound shipments, managing warehouse staff, ensuring inventory accuracy, and maintaining a safe, efficient, and organized work environment.

The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, warehouse operations experience, and a proven ability to manage shipping, receiving, and team performance in a fast-paced distribution environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all daily shipping and receiving operations on 1st shift
• Supervise, train, and support warehouse team members
• Ensure accurate receiving, storage, picking, packing, and shipment of products
• Monitor workflow and productivity to meet operational goals and deadlines
• Maintain inventory accuracy and resolve discrepancies promptly
• Coordinate with internal departments, carriers, and vendors to ensure timely deliveries and shipments
• Enforce company policies, safety procedures, and quality standards
• Conduct routine inspections of warehouse processes, equipment, and work areas
• Track team performance and provide coaching, feedback, and disciplinary action when needed
• Assist with scheduling, staffing, and shift planning
• Prepare reports related to shipping, receiving, inventory, and team productivity
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and reduce errors

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a shipping, receiving, or warehouse management role required
• Prior supervisory or management experience in a warehouse or distribution setting required
• Strong understanding of inventory control, logistics, and warehouse procedures
• Experience working with warehouse management systems, scanners, and computer-based tracking systems
• Ability to lead a team, delegate tasks, and manage priorities effectively
• Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing operational needs
• Forklift experience or certification is a plus
• Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout the warehouse for extended periods
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed
• Comfortable working in a warehouse environment with varying temperatures and noise levels
