Quality Inspector 

Location: Chaska, MN

Our client, a well-established precision machining manufacturer with over 50 years of industry experience, is seeking experienced and detail-oriented Quality Inspectors to join their growing team. This organization specializes in producing complex, close-tolerance components for customers in the aerospace, defense, medical, semiconductor, and high-technology sectors.

Position Summary

The Quality Inspector is responsible for ensuring machined components meet internal quality standards and customer specifications throughout the manufacturing process. This role involves performing dimensional and visual inspections at various stages of production to identify deviations from requirements and prevent nonconforming products from advancing through the manufacturing process.

The ideal candidate will possess strong blueprint-reading skills, experience with precision measuring equipment, and a solid understanding of manufacturing quality systems.

Responsibilities

  • Perform dimensional and visual inspections of machined components during and after production operations.
  • Verify product conformance to engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, optical comparators, and Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs).
  • Monitor in-process quality controls and ensure required inspection data is accurately collected and documented.
  • Record inspection results in accordance with quality management system (QMS) requirements.
  • Identify, document, and report nonconforming conditions and defects.
  • Collaborate with machinists, engineers, and quality personnel to resolve quality concerns and improve processes.
  • Verify inspection and measurement equipment is properly calibrated and maintained.
  • Maintain accurate inspection records and product traceability documentation.
  • Support team members with inspection equipment setup and operation.
  • Communicate quality issues and corrective actions effectively across production, engineering, and quality teams.
  • Participate in internal and external quality audits as required.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, work instructions, and GD&T requirements.

Qualifications

Required

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 2–5 years of quality inspection experience within a manufacturing environment, preferably aerospace or precision machining.
  • Proficiency with precision measuring equipment, including calipers, micrometers, gauges, and CMMs.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.
  • Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Familiarity with AS9100 and/or ISO 9001 quality systems.
  • Understanding of First Article Inspection (FAI) processes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to perform detailed visual inspections and hands-on measurement activities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience programming and operating Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs).
  • Familiarity with PC-DMIS, Zeiss Calypso, or similar inspection software.
  • Experience with vision inspection systems such as Keyence and Micro-Vu.
  • ASQ Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) or related quality certification.
  • Technical certification or Associate’s degree in Manufacturing, Machining, Quality, or a related field.

Salary: $23-28 DOQ (shift differentials offered)
