HVAC-R Service Manager

Commercial & Industrial HVAC-R | Service Operations Leadership

Compensation: $100,000+ Base Salary + Performance Bonus

Are you an experienced HVAC-R professional ready to lead a growing commercial service operation?

We are seeking an HVAC-R Service Manager to oversee the daily operations of a high-performing service department supporting commercial and industrial customers. This leadership role combines technical expertise, team management, customer relationship development, preventive maintenance program oversight, and business growth initiatives.

What You'll Do

Service Operations & Team Leadership

  • Lead day-to-day HVAC-R service and preventive maintenance operations.
  • Manage technician scheduling, dispatching, and workforce utilization.
  • Oversee emergency service calls, preventive maintenance programs, and service work orders.
  • Ensure service work is completed safely, efficiently, and to company quality standards.
  • Support technicians with troubleshooting, technical guidance, and field problem resolution.
  • Conduct site visits when needed to support customers and field personnel.

Customer & Business Development

  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships.
  • Develop and manage preventive maintenance agreements and recurring service contracts.
  • Prepare estimates and proposals for repairs, retrofits, upgrades, and maintenance programs.
  • Identify opportunities for equipment replacement, energy efficiency improvements, and system upgrades.
  • Expand recurring revenue through long-term service partnerships.

Department Growth & Performance

  • Assist with recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and developing HVAC-R service technicians.
  • Mentor and coach team members to improve technical and operational performance.
  • Monitor labor utilization, productivity, job costing, and departmental profitability.
  • Support budgeting, purchasing, inventory management, and vendor relationships.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.

Required Qualifications

  • 7-10+ years of commercial or industrial HVAC-R experience.
  • Previous experience in a Service Manager, Service Supervisor, Field Supervisor, Lead Technician, or similar leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC-R service operations and preventive maintenance programs.
  • Experience supporting commercial and industrial customers.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to estimate service repairs and maintenance agreements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Technical degree, trade certification, or equivalent industry training.
  • Experience with service estimating and maintenance contract sales.
  • Experience using service management software (Sage Service Management preferred).
  • New Jersey Master HVAC-R License is a significant plus.
