Purpose of Job:
Responsible for the inspection of in-process, incoming and/or outgoing components, and finished products to ensure they meet company/customer standards.
Functions & Responsibilities:
1. Inspect material and product to customer or FTI specification. Conduct visual and dimensional inspection. Utilize tools that include but are not limited to; micrometers, calipers, gauges and computers to perform test. Ensure all product is clean and/or polished.
2. Utilize blueprints (if applicable) to ensure parts meet specified tolerances. Ensure revision listed on sales or purchase order matches revision of part being inspected
3. Assemble boxes, label as required, package products, and prepares for shipment. Utilize specific packaging instructions from customer.
4. Work with Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, Engineering or Sales to resolve any deficiencies.
5. Maintain and file records on all inspected parts. Enter all required information using the manufacturing software.
6. Perform all duties as required per the appropriate Quality Management System Procedures.
7. Maintain clean work area.
8. Adhere to all safety guidelines, and company policies.
9. Other duties as directed/assigned by Management.
Education, Competencies, Skills:
1. Strong written and verbal communication skills,
2. Ability to read and follow written instructions,
3. Basic data entry skills,
4. Intermediate mathematics (fractions, decimals for determining measurements/specifications)
5. Ability to measure using rulers and measuring tapes
6. Handling and use of various tools such as razor blades, calipers, other measuring devices, and basic power equipment (heat gun, soldering iron, etc.)
7. Work well with other employees, management and supervisors,
8. Ability to meet deadlines and work overtime as necessary
9. Work independently and/or in a team environment as assigned.
Physical Demands:
Production environment – While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use both hands to finger, handle or grasp, as well as reach, push and pull with hands and arms at, above, or below shoulder level. The employee may be required to stand or sit for long periods of time. The employee is occasional required to walk, bend, and twist. The employee must occasionally lift up to 30 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
Working conditions, Environment and Job hazards:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is continuously exposed to fine fiber optic material (glass or plastic) which could result in skin cuts, abrasions, or sharp shards when fiber is damaged or cut; occasional use of razor blades, a laceration hazard; occasionally data entering on a keyboard creating an MSD hazard, frequently exposed to bright lights which may affect those with light sensitivity, and substances such as epoxy resin and alcohol, possibly causing skin irritation.
