POSITION SUMMARY
Masis Staffing Solutions is seeking dependable and observant Parking Lot Monitors to support Cleveland Metropolitan School District locations. Parking Lot Monitors will maintain a visible presence in assigned school parking lots throughout the scheduled shift to help deter trespassing, vehicle theft, vandalism, and other unauthorized or suspicious activity while supporting a safe environment for students, employees, visitors, and school property.

Must be 21 years of age, pay is $19/hr

Vehicle requirement: This position requires the employee to have a personal vehicle available for use onsite. Employees may be required to drive or reposition their vehicle within the assigned school property or parking lot as directed during training or by authorized District personnel.

AVAILABLE SCHEDULES
Hours vary by assigned school location. Available shifts include:

  • 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
  • 8:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
  • 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain a consistent and visible presence within the assigned school parking lot throughout the scheduled shift.
  • Observe parking areas for suspicious, unusual, or unauthorized activity.
  • Monitor individuals gathering on school property without an apparent school-related purpose.
  • Remain alert for individuals who appear to be inspecting, entering, damaging, or attempting to access vehicles without authorization.
  • When appropriate and safe to do so, professionally ask individuals whether they need assistance.
  • Direct unauthorized individuals to leave school property according to procedures provided during training.
  • Immediately report suspected vehicle theft, vandalism, property damage, trespassing, or other concerning activity.
  • Contact campus security, District personnel, law enforcement, or other designated contacts according to CMSD escalation procedures.
  • Follow all instructions provided during CMSD training regarding reporting and emergency response.
  • Maintain professional and respectful communication with school employees, students, parents, visitors, law enforcement, and members of the public.
  • Use a mobile phone or any other communication devices to communicate with designated contacts when necessary.
  • Complete required incident documentation accurately and promptly, when applicable.
  • Follow all Masis Staffing Solutions and CMSD policies, procedures, and safety requirements.
  • Perform other related parking lot monitoring duties as assigned.

IMPORTANT SAFETY EXPECTATIONS
Parking Lot Monitors are expected to observe, deter, communicate, and report. Employees are not expected to physically confront, chase, restrain, or place themselves in danger when dealing with suspicious or unauthorized individuals. Situations involving immediate threats, suspected criminal activity, weapons, violence, or other emergencies must be reported to the appropriate security personnel or law enforcement according to CMSD procedures.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Successfully complete a seven-year background check.
  • Have a reliable personal vehicle available for use onsite during the assignment.
  • Have a working mobile phone available throughout the assigned shift.
  • Be dependable and able to report to the assigned school location on time.
  • Be able to remain attentive and observant for extended periods.
  • Be comfortable working independently with limited direct supervision.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Demonstrate sound judgment when identifying and reporting suspicious activity.
  • Be able to work outdoors and inside a vehicle during varying weather conditions.

Driving documentation: Because this assignment may require operation of a personal vehicle on school property, candidates may be required to provide a valid driver's license, current vehicle registration, proof of automobile insurance, and meet any applicable Masis Staffing Solutions or CMSD driving requirements before assignment.

PHYSICAL AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position is primarily performed outdoors and in school parking areas. Employees should be prepared for changing weather conditions, including cold, rain, wind, heat, and snow. The position may require prolonged periods of sitting, standing, walking, entering and exiting a vehicle, and visually monitoring a large parking area.
