Prepress Technician

Location: Hooksett, NH
Pay: $20.00–$30.00 per hour
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM–4:00 PM
Alternative Schedule: 11:30 AM–8:00 PM or a possible split shift

Job Summary

Masis Staffing Solutions is seeking an experienced Prepress Technician for a commercial printing environment in Hooksett, NH. This position is ideal for someone with hands-on prepress experience who understands not only the software side of the role, but also how digital files translate into the finished printed product.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of commercial offset printing, excellent troubleshooting skills, and the ability to identify and correct file issues before they reach production.

Responsibilities

• Review incoming customer files to ensure they are print-ready
• Identify and correct technical file issues prior to production
• Process jobs through Kodak Prinergy Workflow
• Build and verify impositions using Kodak Preps
• Generate and review press-ready PDFs and proofs
• Verify page size, bleeds, trim, color spaces, separations, fonts, images, overprints, transparencies, and other production requirements
• Prepare customer-supplied files for press
• Troubleshoot Adobe, PDF, and workflow-related issues
• Work with CMYK, spot-color, Pantone, and color-separation workflows
• Communicate with customer service, sales, production teams, and customers to resolve technical file issues
• Explain required file corrections clearly to both technical and non-technical staff
• Maintain consistent prepress procedures and quality standards
• Ensure files are properly prepared based on the requirements and limitations of the offset printing process

Required Qualifications

• Previous hands-on prepress experience in a commercial printing environment
• Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud, including:
  • Adobe Acrobat
  • InDesign
  • Illustrator
  • Photoshop
• Experience with PDF preflight, troubleshooting, correction, and print production
• Knowledge of commercial offset printing, including sheetfed and/or heatset web production
• Experience with imposition, trapping, bleeds, trim, page geometry, separations, overprints, transparencies, fonts, and image issues
• Understanding of CMYK, spot colors, Pantone colors, and color separations
• Experience with proofing and customer approval workflows
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to work independently and make sound production decisions
• Ability to work effectively in a deadline-driven production environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Kodak Prinergy Workflow and Kodak Preps is highly preferred
• Experience with Kodak InSite or similar online proofing and customer approval systems
• Knowledge of G7 methodology and GRACoL/CRPC print standards
• Understanding of ICC color management
• Experience with contract proofing and monitor-based soft proofing
• Experience with Adobe Acrobat/PitStop or similar preflight and PDF correction tools
• Experience working with magazines, catalogs, publications, variable page sizes, and other multi-page commercial print projects
• Knowledge of offset press requirements, including registration, trapping, total ink coverage, dot gain, and press-ready color preparation

Candidates with strong commercial offset prepress experience using another major workflow system may also be considered if they have the technical background and ability to quickly learn Kodak Prinergy and Preps.
