Job Title: Warehouse Lead
Pay Rate: $26.00 – $28.00 per hour
Location: Wilmington, MA
Duration: 6 months (Open to Contract-to-Hire)
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 9:30 AM – 6:30 PM (2nd Shift)
Job Summary:
The Warehouse Lead will assist the Warehouse Manager with monitoring and maintaining the day-to-day operations of the 2nd shift warehouse team.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Assist the Warehouse Manager with assigning daily work to meet delivery schedules.
Ensure paperwork is prepared and distributed by route at the start of each shift.
Serve as the point of contact for 2nd shift employees regarding employee relations, training, safety, and general inquiries.
Support performance management and provide feedback on team performance.
Conduct new hire orientation and ongoing training.
Process warehouse returns with the warehouse team.
Close and secure the facility at the end of the shift.
Follow all safety procedures, GMPs, and food safety standards.
Maintain a safe work environment and report any injuries or unsafe conditions.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Additional Role Details & Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
Lead, motivate, and coordinate the daily activities of 2nd shift warehouse associates, including order pickers, packers, and material handlers.
Monitor workflow throughout the shift to identify bottlenecks, reallocate resources, and ensure productivity goals are met.
Coordinate with other shift leads and the Warehouse Manager to ensure seamless shift-to-shift transitions and consistent communication.
Conduct regular safety walkthroughs and immediately address any hazards, unsafe behaviors, or equipment issues.
Investigate and report any workplace injuries, accidents, or near-misses; complete incident reports and assist with corrective action plans.
Utilize the Warehouse Management System (WMS) and ERP system to track inventory levels, monitor order status, and generate necessary reports.
Assist with cycle counts and physical inventory audits to maintain accurate stock levels.
Operate material handling equipment (forklift, electric pallet jack, order picker) as needed to support the team during peak periods.
Education & Experience
High School Diploma or GED required.
5+ years of warehouse experience in a high-volume distribution center.
2+ years of leadership experience preferred.
Qualifications
Proficient with Microsoft Office.
Experience with ERP or Warehouse Management Systems.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to multitask and work in a collaborative team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred to effectively communicate with a diverse workforce.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods throughout the shift.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.
Comfortable working in a warehouse environment with varying temperatures.
