Assistant Quality Manager

Position Summary

The Assistant Quality Manager supports the development and execution of quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) systems within a manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for ensuring product quality, improving processes, supporting customer quality requirements, and maintaining compliance with applicable quality standards. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience in quality systems, testing, and continuous improvement, particularly within advanced manufacturing or energy-related industries.


Key Responsibilities

Quality Assurance & Quality Control (QA/QC)

  • Conduct quality inspections for incoming materials, in-process production, and final product shipments.
  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs), control plans, and inspection criteria.
  • Monitor product yield and defect rates; drive improvements through data analysis.

Testing & Analysis

  • Plan and perform electrical, mechanical, and environmental testing on products and components.
  • Lead reliability and lifecycle testing at the system level.
  • Analyze defects and test data; generate reports and implement corrective actions.

Customer Quality Response

  • Manage customer complaints, including root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Support customer audits and maintain quality documentation and communication.
  • Provide technical support for field quality issues and product returns (RMA management).

Quality Systems & Audit Management

  • Support and maintain quality systems such as ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and ISO 14001.
  • Prepare for and participate in internal and external audits.
  • Maintain quality manuals, procedures, and records.

Supplier Quality Management

  • Evaluate and qualify suppliers; conduct periodic quality audits.
  • Monitor incoming material quality and coordinate corrective actions with suppliers.
  • Ensure quality consistency in outsourced manufacturing and sourced components.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Materials Engineering, or a related field
  • Experience: 2–4 years of experience in quality management within manufacturing or related industries

Technical Skills

  • Knowledge of quality tools and methodologies (FMEA, 8D, SPC, MSA, 5 Whys, Fishbone, etc.)
  • Experience with inspection and testing systems (e.g., LIMS, MES, ERP)
  • Familiarity with manufacturing quality processes and continuous improvement methods

Soft Skills

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with battery systems, energy storage systems (ESS), or similar technologies
  • Understanding of Battery Management Systems (BMS) and Power Conversion Systems (PCS)
  • Experience working with global customers or regulatory compliance for international markets
  • Certifications such as ISO auditor credentials or Six Sigma (Green Belt/Black Belt)

Additional Information

  • Salary: $90,000 – $100,000 annually
  • Work Type: In-person
  • Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
