Buyer / Material Handler

Location: Nashua, NH
Department: Operations / Supply Chain
Reports To: Operations Manager

Position Summary

Masis Professional Group is hiring a highly organized, dependable, and proactive Buyer / Material Handler to support our client's manufacturing and supply chain operations. This dual-role position is responsible for ensuring the efficient flow of materials throughout the facility while managing purchasing activities to maintain inventory levels, support production schedules, and meet customer delivery requirements.

The successful candidate will be comfortable working in both warehouse and office environments, possess strong attention to detail, and demonstrate the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing setting. This individual will play a key role in maintaining inventory accuracy, securing materials required for production, expediting critical components, and supporting on-time customer deliveries.

Purchasing & Supply Chain Responsibilities

  • Create, issue, and track purchase orders for raw materials, components, consumables, and operational supplies. 
  • Source materials and obtain competitive pricing from vendors to support customer quotations and production requirements. 
  • Monitor inventory levels and proactively replenish stock to avoid production interruptions. 
  • Communicate with suppliers regarding pricing, lead times, order status, delivery schedules, and quality concerns. 
  • Track open purchase orders and resolve shortages, delays, discrepancies, and invoice issues. 
  • Expedite critical materials and components to support production schedules and customer delivery commitments. 
  • Work closely with Production, Operations, and Customer Service teams to ensure on-time customer order fulfillment and delivery performance. 
  • Monitor supplier performance and proactively address potential supply chain disruptions that could impact production or customer shipments. 
  • Coordinate priority purchases and material availability for urgent customer requirements and schedule changes. 
  • Develop and maintain productive supplier relationships to improve service, quality, and cost performance. 
  • Support supplier evaluations and identify cost-saving opportunities. 
  • Maintain accurate purchasing records and documentation within ERP and company systems. 
  • Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, Production, and Customer Service teams to support production schedules, customer commitments, and continuous improvement initiatives. 
  • Participate in production planning and material review meetings to identify risks and develop mitigation plans for material shortages or delayed deliveries.

Material Handling & Inventory Management

  • Receive incoming materials and verify shipments against packing slips and purchase orders. 
  • Inspect incoming goods for accuracy, quality, and potential damage. 
  • Store and organize inventory in designated warehouse locations. 
  • Pull, stage, and distribute materials for manufacturing and assembly operations. 
  • Maintain accurate inventory transactions and records within ERP/MRP systems. 
  • Perform cycle counts and assist with annual physical inventory activities. 
  • Coordinate shipping and receiving activities to ensure timely movement of materials. 
  • Operate pallet jacks, forklifts, and other material handling equipment safely (if certified). 
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse environment in accordance with company safety standards. 
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to inventory accuracy and material flow.

Qualifications – Required

  • Bachelor's degree; equivalent relevant work experience will be considered. 
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in material handling, inventory control, purchasing, manufacturing operations, or a related field. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook. 
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. 
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision. 
  • Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

Qualifications – Preferred

  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment. 
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience using ERP/MRP systems for purchasing, inventory control, and production planning activities; experience with Counterpart ERP strongly preferred. 
  • Understanding of supply chain management, inventory control, procurement, and production planning processes. 
  • Experience supporting customer quotations through material sourcing and vendor cost analysis.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular basis. 
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and move throughout the workday. 
  • Ability to work in both office and warehouse/manufacturing environments. 
  • Ability to safely operate material handling equipment when required.
