Development Engineering Technician levels I,II,III
Location: West Boylston, MA
Job Type: Full-Time (Project Based)
Schedule: Monday–Friday
Pay: $25/hr+ based on experience
About the Opportunity
We are seeking a hands-on Development Engineering Technician Intern for a summer opportunity in West Boylston, MA. This role is for a someone with prior technical, manufacturing, electronics, mechanical, or engineering-related experience.
Summary The Development Engineering Technician supports Product Development Engineers by building prototypes, performing testing, troubleshooting issues, and documenting work on new customer products and test equipment. This role is hands?on, fast?paced, and essential to bringing new designs to life.
Prototype Assembly & Testing — Build, test, troubleshoot, repair, and modify electrical and mechanical prototype systems. Maintain accurate lab notebooks and documentation.
Technical Fabrication — Assemble circuitry, mechanical assemblies, and full prototype systems using engineering instructions and technical drawings.
Process Improvement — Recommend improvements to build and test methods to enhance manufacturability and serviceability.
Test Setup & Execution — Set up standard test fixtures or create new test equipment to evaluate performance and reliability.
Equipment Maintenance — Support planned and unplanned maintenance, calibration, and repair of engineering equipment.
Machine Shop Use — Use and maintain low?complexity machine shop tools.
New Equipment Installation — Assist with installation and qualification of new engineering equipment.
Verification Testing — Perform verification testing according to engineering test plans.
Troubleshooting Support — Provide hands?on troubleshooting and problem?solving support for development engineering.
Lab Organization — Maintain prototype build areas, test environments, and engineering workstations; track and manage tools and equipment.
Procedure Improvements — Assist engineers with updates to build and test procedures.
Perform moderate to high?complexity tasks with modest oversight.
Required
High school diploma
Previous Electro-Mechanical Assembly experience (2+years)
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Good problem?solving ability
Proficiency with basic hand tools and test equipment
Good PCBA soldering skills
Ability to follow direction from development engineers
Experience with MS Office
Preferred
Trade school or technical training
Experience with MRP/ERP systems (Epicor E9 a plus)
Experience documenting engineering work
Primarily office and engineering lab environment
Occasional work outside typical office settings
Interaction with people and technology while standing or sitting
