Equipment Maintenance Technician (Chinese/English – Bilingual)

Pay Range: $28–$34 per hour DOE, plus shift differential.

Position Overview

The Maintenance Equipment Technician supports a high-technology solar panel manufacturing operation by performing troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance on automated production equipment. Technicians are assigned to a specific shift (day or night) and provide hands-on technical support to ensure the continuous, safe, and efficient operation of machinery used in cell production, lamination, framing, testing, and packaging.

This role is critical to minimizing downtime, improving equipment reliability, and supporting a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and automation issues on high-technology solar panel manufacturing equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance (PMs) on production machinery according to established schedules and documentation.
  • Support continuous operation of manufacturing lines by responding quickly to equipment breakdowns and production calls.
  • Maintain and repair robotics, conveyors, vacuum systems, PLC-controlled equipment, laminators, stringers, EL testers, and other specialized manufacturing machinery.
  • Document all maintenance activities, parts usage, and equipment status in the CMMS/ERP system.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Production, and Quality teams to resolve recurring equipment issues and improve reliability.
  • Assist with equipment installations, calibrations, upgrades, and commissioning of new machinery.
  • Follow lockout/tagout (LOTO), electrical safety, and all Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) protocols.
  • Maintain spare parts inventory and ensure critical components are available for repairs.
  • Train operators on basic equipment checks, safe operation, and first-level troubleshooting.
  • Support root-cause analysis (RCA) and implementation of corrective actions for equipment failures.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and manufacturing procedures.

Required Qualifications

  • 2–5 years of experience as a Maintenance Technician, Equipment Technician, or similar role in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and automation systems.
  • Experience working with PLCs, sensors, motors, drives, and industrial controls.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and equipment manuals.
  • Ability to work assigned day or night shifts in a 24/7 production environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform hands-on repairs on the production floor.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently during shift operations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in solar, semiconductor, electronics, or other high-tech automated manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with robotics, vacuum systems, and precision automation equipment.
  • Experience using CMMS software (Fiix, SAP PM, Oracle, or similar).
  • Bilingual English/Mandarin is a plus.
  • Experience supporting start-up or rapidly scaling manufacturing operations.

Employees must be able to:

  • Stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift while supporting production equipment.
  • Reach, bend, squat, kneel, and occasionally crawl to access machinery located in tight or restricted areas.
  • Safely climb ladders to access equipment in areas with narrow pathways and elevated components.
  • Maneuver within confined spaces to perform troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance.
  • Work both indoors and outdoors as needed, including exposure to Arizona outdoor heat when servicing exterior equipment.
  • Lift and carry tools, parts, and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Wear required PPE and follow all safety protocols while performing physical tasks.

Work Environment

  • Fast-paced manufacturing environment with constant interaction with production lines and automated equipment.
  • Requires the use of PPE, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to respond quickly to equipment issues.
