Purpose & Scope:
The Lead Maintenance Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the reliability and performance of equipment used in the production of frozen novelty. This position requires strong technical skills across multiple trades—mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and HVAC—to maintain and troubleshoot specialized production equipment. The technician must be adaptable and proactive, working within safety and food safety guidelines to minimize downtime and support the plant’s operational goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain machinery and facility systems used in frozen novelty production.
Apply multi-disciplinary technical knowledge to ensure equipment efficiency and reduce downtime.
Manage maintenance logistics, including parts procurement and scheduling.
Adhere to GMPs and food safety regulations specific to frozen food manufacturing.
Support the development and execution of preventive maintenance programs.
Collaborate in team efforts, including cross-training and operational improvements.
Qualifications & Skills:
High school diploma or GED required; technical/trade school education preferred.
3–5 years of food manufacturing maintenance experience, with emphasis on frozen products.
Experience with Tetra Pak continuous freezers and Nitrogen Freezing Tunnels preferred.
Skilled in industrial tools and familiar with systems up to 480 VAC.
Proficient in working with VFDs, motor starters, PLCs, instrumentation, pneumatics, and HVAC.
Knowledge of HACCP and food safety standards related to frozen food.
Physically capable of handling 50 lbs and working in cold/hot environments.
