In-Process Mechanical Inspector

Milford, CT

We are seeking an experienced In-Process Mechanical Inspector for our client who is responsible for performing dimensional and quality inspections of precision-machined components throughout the manufacturing process. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of inspection methods, blueprint interpretation, and GD&T, with experience using advanced measurement equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform in-process, first-piece, and final inspections of machined components.
  • Inspect parts using precision measurement equipment including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges, and other standard inspection tools.
  • Interpret and apply engineering drawings, dimensional tolerances, and GD&T requirements.
  • Verify critical dimensions, tolerances, surface conditions, and other drawing specifications.
  • Utilize CMM, Keyence, and OGP inspection systems for dimensional verification.
  • Program and operate Zeiss CMM, Keyence, and OGP equipment when applicable.
  • Identify dimensional deviations and communicate inspection results to machining and production personnel.
  • Document inspection results and maintain accurate quality records.
  • Assist with troubleshooting dimensional issues and determining whether parts conform to engineering specifications.
  • Ensure inspection activities are performed in accordance with established quality procedures and manufacturing requirements.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of mechanical inspection experience in a manufacturing or precision machining environment.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints and GD&T.
  • Proficiency with standard precision inspection equipment.
  • Experience with Zeiss CMM, Keyence, and/or OGP equipment strongly preferred.
  • CMM programming experience is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of dimensional tolerancing, inspection techniques, and machining processes.
  • Ability to accurately document inspection results and identify nonconforming conditions.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently in a production environment.

Compensation $20-$25 DOE
1st shift 7am – 330pm
Monday – Friday
