Position: Maker
Reports to: Production Manager
Status: Full-Time Regular, Non-Exempt
Job Description:
Makers perform a variety of duties within the Dawn’s Foods Facility. Makers strive to keep the Dawn’s Foods Facility clean in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (“GMPs”) as outlined in Quality Assurance Procedure QA-200B. Makers are required to produced finished products according to company policies, procedures, trainings, and guidelines.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Follow all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Safe Quality Food (SQF), Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP), and Safety procedures, policies, and guidelines.
- Maintain a clean and orderly working area.
- Work as a team along with other members of the crew.
- Report food safety concerns and any violations of company policies to management.
- Follows batch record to produce finished product.
- Use of the Parity traceability system.
- Mix the ingredients in the machine.
- Fill the hopper or totes.
- Operate pump machine.
- Breakdown machine parts prior to cleaning.
- Clean and sanitize all parts.
- Holds the knowledge and control to stop a batch at any time for production or quality issues. Will then direct issue to Production Supervisor / Quality Control to review and address situation.
- During all stages beginning, middle & end of batch making review products for defects and consistency.
- Remove any raw materials that are questionable or do not meet standards from production process. Report any discrepancies or defects to Quality Control Manager or Production Supervisor immediately.
- Verify all batch paperwork before turning in.
- Follow daily schedule to properly produce products in the proper order.
- Works in a team environment and assists others as needed or as instructed.
- Successfully complete all required trainings. Training may last from a few weeks to a few months. Training also involves learning how to operate specific equipment, following company policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Work Environment:

- Work is conducted within a large, open floor Production area.
- Loud machinery, requiring workers to wear ear protection to guard against noise.
- Frequent exposure to cool to cold temperatures for long periods.
- Workers are required to wear hair and beard nets, and gloves to protect the product from possible contamination. Workers are also required to wear and are provided personal protective equipment such as frocks and nonslip shoes/boots.
Educational Requirements:
A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred. Prior experience is preferred.
Physical Demands:
Continuously standing. Frequently walking, kneeling, lifting between 0-10 pounds, using major hand movements to finger, handle, feel, grasp, grip, twist, turn, push, and pull. Occasionally sitting, reaching above shoulder length, working with body bent over at waist, bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling. Occasionally climbing stairs. Occasionally working with arms extended at shoulder level, reaching with hands and arms, and working with arms above shoulder height. Occasionally lifting between 25-50 pounds. No crawling, climbing ladders, repetitive foot movements as in foot controls.
Mental Demands:
Detail oriented, being able to closely follow health and safety standards to ensure appropriate sanitation of areas and to avoid food contamination and injury. Strong mathematic skills; ability to perform addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication.
