Quality Mechanical Inspector (Precision Machining)

Second Shift: Monday-Thursday | 4:00 PM – 2:30 AM

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Quality Mechanical Inspector with a strong background in precision machining to join our growing manufacturing team. This is not a general quality inspection role—we’re looking for someone with hands-on experience inspecting CNC machined components in a machine shop environment.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience performing first article, in-process, and final inspections, operating and programming CMM equipment, and interpreting complex engineering drawings with GD&T. This position plays a key role in ensuring precision-machined parts consistently meet customer and internal quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform first article, in-process, and final inspections on precision-machined components and assemblies
• Operate and program Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM)
• Inspect parts using precision measuring equipment including:
  • Micrometers
  • Calipers
  • Height gauges
  • Bore gauges
  • Dial indicators
  • Other precision inspection tools
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T, and customer specifications
• Record inspection results and maintain accurate quality documentation
• Assist with nonconformance investigations and corrective actions
• Work closely with production and quality teams to improve first-pass yield and reduce defects
• Ensure products meet customer specifications and internal quality standards

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required
• Mechanical inspection experience in a precision machining or CNC manufacturing environment
• Experience inspecting CNC machined components is required
• Strong blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation skills
• Hands-on experience operating and programming CMM equipment
• Proficiency with precision measuring instruments
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and Word
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work

Preferred Experience

• Precision machining or aerospace manufacturing
• Tight-tolerance inspection
• Root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives
• ISO or AS9100 manufacturing environments
