Inspection Specialist III

Location: West Boylston, MA
Pay Range: $27 – $28

We are seeking an experienced Inspection Specialist III to support a regulated medical-device manufacturing environment. This is a senior-level quality inspection role for someone with strong experience inspecting electro-mechanical assemblies, cable and wire harnesses, components, and finished medical products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform incoming, in-process, final, and source inspections.
  • Inspect complex electro-mechanical assemblies, cables, and wire harnesses.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, GD&T, and inspection documentation.
  • Use precision inspection equipment including:
    • Calipers
    • Micrometers
    • Microscopes
    • Digital Volt Meters (DVMs)
    • Other mechanical and electrical inspection tools
  • Inspect workmanship to IPC-A-610 and IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards.
  • Document inspection results accurately in accordance with ISO 13485 and cGMP requirements.
  • Identify and document nonconforming material and product issues.
  • Support investigations and communicate quality concerns to manufacturing and engineering teams.
  • Maintain accurate inspection and quality records.
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to less-experienced inspectors.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of inspection/quality experience, preferably involving medical products.
  • 5+ years of medical-device manufacturing experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong experience with electro-mechanical inspection.
  • Experience inspecting cables and wire harnesses.
  • Knowledge of GD&T and engineering drawings.
  • Hands-on experience using calipers, micrometers, microscopes, and DVMs.
  • Working knowledge of IPC-A-610 and IPC-A-620.
  • Experience working within ISO 13485 and cGMP-regulated environments.
  • Experience documenting and processing nonconformances.
  • Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) or comparable quality certification preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and assist in mentoring junior inspection personnel.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a senior quality professional with extensive experience inspecting complex medical-device and electro-mechanical products. They are comfortable working from detailed drawings and specifications, identifying quality issues, documenting findings, and partnering with manufacturing and engineering teams to maintain high product-quality standards.
