Masis Staffing is looking for a experienced Shipping & Receiving Clerk for our manufacturing client in Centerbrook, CT

Job Description: The Shipping & Receiving Clerk is responsible for handling the shipment of goods and materials for the electrical manufacturing company. This position ensures that all orders are prepared, packaged, shipped and received in an accurate, timely, and efficient manner while maintaining quality standards and adhering to safety regulations. The role involves working closely with various teams, such as production, inventory, and customer service, to ensure smooth operations in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

The work schedule will Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM

Key Responsibilities:

  • Order Processing and Shipment Preparation:
    • Receive and review shipping & receiving orders to verify accuracy.
    • Prepare shipments by assembling, packing, and labeling boxes, crates, or pallets with appropriate packaging materials.
    • Ensure products are packaged to prevent damage during transit. 
    • Process shipping & receiving documentation (e.g., bills of lading, packing lists, shipping & receiving labels).
  • ·Shipping & Receiving Coordination:
    • Coordinate with logistics companies and couriers (e.g., FedEx, UPS, DHL, and freight carriers) to arrange timely pickup and delivery.
    • Ensure shipments meet customer requirements, including special shipping & receiving instructions or deadlines.
    • Track and monitor shipments, providing updates on delivery status and resolving any delays or issues.
    • Communicate effectively with purchasing, production, and quality control teams to resolve any discrepancies with incoming materials.
  • Inventory Control:
    • Maintain accurate records of shipped goods, ensuring all documentation is properly completed and filed.
    • Work with the warehouse team to manage stock levels of packaging materials, ensuring sufficient supply for daily operations.
    • Perform periodic inventory counts to verify stock levels and report discrepancies.
  • Quality Assurance:
    • Perform quality checks on items before shipping & receiving to ensure they meet customer and company standards.
    • Report damaged or defective products to the appropriate departments for corrective action.
    • Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations in the handling and disposal of materials.
  • Data Entry and Record Keeping:
    • Input and update shipping & receiving formation in the company's ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system or shipping & receiving software.
    • Maintain logs of all outgoing shipments for reporting and analysis.
    • Generate shipping & receiving reports and provide updates to the management team as needed
  • Safety and Compliance:
    • Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, ensuring a safe working environment.
    • Comply with regulations related to hazardous materials (if applicable), ensuring proper labeling, handling, and shipping & receiving& receiving of such materials.
    • Stay up-to-date with relevant shipping & receiving& receiving regulations, tariffs, and international shipping & receiving laws.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent; an associate degree in logistics, supply chain or a related field is a plus. 
  • 1 to 3 years experience in shipping/logistics, preferably in a manufacturing or electrical environment. 
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. 
  • Proficiency with shipping & receiving software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
  • Experience using shipping & receiving platforms for major carriers.
  • Basic Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to safety operate material handling equipment. 
  • Ability to lift and move heavy boxes. 
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods of time
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Must be eligible to work in the US

Compensation for the Shipping & Receiving Clerk:
DOE: $18 an hour
