Telecom Technician

Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled Telecom Technician to support the installation, maintenance, and testing of telecommunications systems in commercial and industrial environments. This role involves working with structured cabling, fiber optics, network equipment, and related infrastructure while maintaining high standards for safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Install and maintain telecommunications systems and infrastructure
  • Read and follow blueprints, wiring diagrams, and installation plans
  • Install cable supports, conduit, sleeves, cable trays, and fire stopping materials
  • Run and terminate data, voice, coaxial, control, and fiber optic cabling
  • Install relay racks, cabinets, and network switches
  • Test cabling systems to TIA/EIA Level II standards using cable analyzers
  • Assist with open wiring and structured cabling installations
  • Complete daily reports, time sheets, and material requests accurately
  • Follow all OSHA and job site safety requirements, including daily JHA procedures
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas
  • Support additional project duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of telecom, low voltage, or structured cabling field experience
  • Trade school training or apprenticeship preferred
  • Experience with fiber optic and copper cable terminations
  • Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings
  • Familiarity with network hardware installation including switches and cabinets
  • Experience testing cabling systems using cable analyzers
  • OSHA 10 Certification required
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Comfortable working in confined spaces and active construction environments
