Test Technician II – Medical Device Manufacturing

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Test Technician II to support the testing and troubleshooting of complex electro-mechanical and electro-optical medical devices. This role is ideal for someone with strong hands-on technical skills, experience using electrical and optical test equipment, and a strong commitment to quality in a regulated manufacturing environment.
The Test Technician II will perform testing on subassemblies, final assemblies, and finished medical devices while following written procedures, customer requirements, cGMP guidelines, ISO 13485 requirements, ESD procedures, and good documentation practices. This position may also support new product launches, advanced troubleshooting, customer-related projects, and training of other technicians.
Responsibilities
- Perform testing and troubleshooting on subassemblies, final assemblies, and finished medical devices.
- Follow written test procedures, work instructions, customer specifications, and quality system requirements.
- Perform electrical safety testing, including HiPot, ground bond, leakage, and related testing.
- Conduct pressure and leak testing as required.
- Perform functional testing at the component, subassembly, and finished goods level.
- Support optical and laser testing, including near-field and far-field laser alignment.
- Perform advanced optical alignment using tools such as aiming beams, oscilloscopes, and related test equipment.
- Use test equipment such as DMMs, ammeters, oscilloscopes, power meters, energy meters, interferometers, and beam profilers.
- Perform product performance verification using automated and GUI-based test software.
- Record and log test data using systems such as Microsoft Word, Excel, LabVIEW, StarLab, MiniTab, and other test applications.
- Troubleshoot electronic systems, PCBAs, components, subassemblies, and finished devices.
- Identify, document, and report product quality issues, discrepancies, and non-conformances.
- Maintain accurate manufacturing documentation in accordance with work order and customer requirements.
- Follow good documentation practices in a cGMP and ISO 13485 environment.
- Maintain proper device traceability, material control, and non-conforming material control.
- Follow cleanroom procedures, ESD requirements, and all safety practices.
- Keep work area and equipment clean, organized, and safe.
- May assist with developing advanced testing methods and procedures.
- May train other Test Technicians.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 5 years of electro-mechanical and/or electro-optical testing experience required.
- Experience in a high-mix manufacturing environment required.
- Experience with HiPot testing, ground bond testing, electrical safety testing, and DMM use required.
- Experience with opto-mechanical tools and equipment in an optical or laser lab environment required.
- Experience handling optical components and using optics cleaning tools and methods.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
- Ability to load software and work with multiple test applications.
- Ability to read, write, and understand detailed instructions, test procedures, and records in English.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Strong troubleshooting, organization, and follow-up skills.
- Excellent teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong manual dexterity and eye/hand coordination.
- Positive attitude and customer-service mindset.
Preferred Experience
- Previous medical device manufacturing experience.
- College coursework or degree in electronics, engineering, physics, optics, or a related technical field.
- Familiarity with cGMP and ISO 13485 requirements.
- Familiarity with cleanroom procedures.
- Experience using LabVIEW, StarLab, MiniTab, or similar test/data systems.
- Experience supporting product launches or customer-facing technical projects.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time.
- Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time.
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
- Ability to pass an eye exam required for work with laser systems.

The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented Test Technician with strong electro-mechanical and electro-optical troubleshooting experience.
