Job Title: Stainless Steel TIG Pipe Welder
Location: Phoenix, AZ
Pay: $38 – $42 per hour (DOE)
Employment Type: Contract / Potential Temp-to-Hire
Monday- Friday some Saturdays 5am-3:30pm.. maybe later due to business needs 

Masis Staffing is hiring an experienced Stainless Steel TIG Pipe Welder to join a fabrication team in Phoenix, AZ. The ideal candidate will have strong experience welding stainless steel pipe using the GTAW (TIG) process and be capable of producing high-quality welds that meet industry standards. This role requires attention to detail, the ability to read blueprints and welding procedures, and a commitment to safety and craftsmanship.


Job Summary

The Stainless Steel TIG Pipe Welder is responsible for performing precision welding on stainless steel pipe in a fabrication shop environment. This role involves preparing materials, completing high-quality welds in multiple positions, and ensuring finished work meets quality and inspection standards.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform TIG (GTAW) welding on stainless steel pipe in multiple positions including 2G, 5G, and 6G.
  • Prepare pipe and fittings for welding, including fit-up, beveling, grinding, and cleaning stainless steel surfaces.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, isometric drawings, and Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS).
  • Ensure welds meet quality standards and pass visual inspections and testing requirements.
  • Maintain proper back purging procedures to ensure weld integrity and prevent contamination.
  • Safely operate and maintain welding machines, torches, grinders, and other shop equipment.
  • Follow all safety procedures and shop protocols.
  • Collaborate with shop foremen, fitters, and fabrication teams to complete projects efficiently.

  • Two hole pins (2)
  • Wrap-around pipe template – Medium
  • Welding hood

Qualifications

  • Proven experience welding schedule pipe using TIG (GTAW).
  • Knowledge of back purging techniques and contamination control.
  • Ability to pass a stainless steel TIG pipe weld test.
  • Ability to read blueprints and follow welding procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced fabrication shop environment.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience welding 304, 316, and other stainless steel alloys.
  • Previous experience in fabrication shops or industrial pipe welding environments.
  • Forklift or shop equipment experience is a plus.

Work Environment

  • Fabrication shop environment supporting stainless steel pipe welding and fabrication operations.
  • Required use of PPE, including welding helmet, gloves, safety glasses, respirator, and protective clothing.
