VALUE STREAM SUPERVISOR – WELD/GP

Position Summary

The Value Stream Supervisor – Weld/GP is responsible for leading and managing daily operations within the welding and grinding/polishing departments. This role focuses on production efficiency, team development, scheduling, quality, safety, and continuous improvement. The position requires strong leadership and manufacturing experience, with an emphasis on Lean manufacturing, 5S, inventory control, and process optimization.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Oversee daily manufacturing operations within the welding and grinding/polishing departments.
• Supervise assigned employees, including interviewing, hiring, training, assigning work, evaluating performance, and addressing employee concerns.
• Support production teams with goal-setting and tracking Continuous Improvement initiatives.
• Manage unscheduled equipment downtime to minimize production disruptions.
• Implement Continuous Improvement tools to improve production capacity, line efficiency, and process reliability.
• Use Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to monitor performance and drive operational improvements.
• Support capital planning and ensure projects are completed in accordance with established schedules and targets.
• Develop control plans to ensure process improvements are sustained.
• Train, mentor, and coach teams in problem-solving, Lean methodology, and waste elimination.
• Ensure required documentation is completed and recommend process changes and employee training to maintain compliance.
• Work with production teams to identify and prioritize improvement opportunities.
• Establish, communicate, and implement best practices across manufacturing operations.
• Direct and coordinate manufacturing programs related to training, safety, housekeeping, cost reduction, and employee involvement.
• Assist with inventory management to maintain appropriate stock levels and ensure accurate material tracking and transfers.
• Identify and implement changes to improve productivity, reduce costs, and minimize scrap and rework.
• Monitor scrap and rework data and maintain production standards.
• Ensure manufacturing goals are achieved in accordance with established production and safety procedures.
• Coordinate with other departments to communicate operational updates, policies, and decisions that impact manufacturing performance.
• Assist in developing short- and long-term manufacturing plans, policies, programs, and objectives.
• Reinforce awareness of product quality and end-use requirements throughout manufacturing operations.
• Apply Lean tools and concepts to identify and eliminate waste, improve workflow, and address root causes of process issues.
• Promote a safe, respectful, and inclusive work environment.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Physical capability to perform the essential requirements of the position.
• Maintain strong safety awareness of personal safety, others, and the surrounding work environment.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent manufacturing experience.
• Minimum of five years of TIG welding and supervisory experience.
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities.
• Ability to guide teams in developing and implementing actionable solutions.
• Strong verbal, written, and negotiation skills.
• Experience with Lean manufacturing methodologies.
