The Warehouse Floor Supervisor leads daily floor execution across Swiss Madison’s Georgia distribution center. This role converts the Warehouse Manager’s plan into safe, accurate, and timely work by assigning labor, maintaining floor presence, coaching employees, resolving real-time obstacles, supporting warehouse technology, and escalating risks early. The supervisor must understand all warehouse departments, be capable of supporting essential warehouse positions, and work closely with the Warehouse Manager to maintain consistent workflows, service levels, quality, and accountability.
• Remain actively present on the warehouse floor for the majority of the shift, observing work, coaching employees, and addressing issues before they affect safety, quality, or shipping.
• Complete shift start-up with the Warehouse Manager or assigned leader, including priorities, staffing, callouts, workload, inbound appointments, carrier cutoffs, equipment status, and known risks.
• Assign employees to receiving, putaway, replenishment, picking, packing, ship verification, small parcel, LTL, returns, inventory, and other tasks according to the approved daily plan.
• Conduct frequent check-ins with department leads and employees; rebalance labor when volume, staffing, equipment, or service-level risks change.
• Ensure work is completed according to current SOPs, system steps, safety requirements, quality standards, and customer-specific shipping instructions.
• Open or close the warehouse when assigned and complete all applicable security, equipment, dock, housekeeping, and end-of-shift checks.
• Provide a clear shift handoff that identifies completed work, open orders, backlog, exceptions, staffing concerns, equipment issues, and actions still required.
• Maintain working knowledge of every warehouse department and remain capable of stepping into essential functions for training, verification, short-term coverage, or emergency stabilization.
• Maintain daily focus on picking, packing, ship verification, small parcel, and LTL completion so carrier cutoffs and customer SLAs are met.
• Verify inbound product is counted, inspected, scanned, labeled, stored, and made available accurately and promptly.
• Ensure outbound shipments have the correct product, quantity, packaging, labels, tracking, BOL, dimensions, weight, photos, RFID documents, and other required records.
• Ensure damaged, missing, overage, shortage, return, and inventory discrepancies are identified, isolated when needed, documented, researched, and escalated.
• Monitor staging areas, docks, aisles, racking, workstations, and storage locations throughout the shift; correct housekeeping and organization issues promptly.
• Support container unloading and empty-return execution according to the manager’s plan and immediately escalate appointment, capacity, equipment, or timing risks.
• Technology support: Confirm computers, shipping carts, printers, label printers, scanners, RF devices, scales, monitors, and other required warehouse technology are powered, connected, stocked, and functioning at shift start.
• Provide first-level troubleshooting by checking connections, power, supplies, device status, approved settings, and basic application access; restart or test equipment only when safe and authorized.
• Document technology issues clearly, including the user, device, location, error, business impact, troubleshooting completed, and current status; escalate unresolved issues promptly to the Warehouse Manager.
• Support employees in following approved Sellercloud, ShipBridge, Skustack, Skustack Lens, carrier, RF-scanning, and shipping workflows without bypassing required system steps.
• Ensure every employee uses only their assigned or authorized individual login; stop and report shared-login or unauthorized-access practices.
• Track out-of-service devices and temporary workarounds, protect equipment from damage, and notify the Warehouse Manager of repair, replacement, supply, or training needs.
• Use dashboards, picklists, aging reports, shipment queues, and floor-visibility tools to identify backlog, inactivity, missed scans, workflow exceptions, and service-level risks.
• Conduct role-specific on-the-job training and verify employees can perform each assigned task safely, accurately, and according to the current SOP.
• Reinforce productivity, quality, attendance, housekeeping, scanning, safety, and conduct expectations throughout the shift.
• Provide immediate, respectful coaching when standards are not followed; document recurring or serious concerns and escalate them to the Warehouse Manager.
• Identify employees who need retraining, cross-training, additional support, recognition, or formal performance follow-up.
• Build bench strength by cross-training approved employees and confirming trained backups are available for critical roles.
• Do not silently absorb all uncovered work; notify the Warehouse Manager promptly when staffing or capability gaps put the shift at risk.
• Participate in regular development meetings with the Warehouse Manager and apply coaching related to leadership, delegation, communication, technical knowledge, and decision-making.
• Conduct and document assigned floor, dock, aisle, racking, equipment, housekeeping, fire-exit, eyewash, and workstation checks.
• Stop unsafe work immediately, secure the area or equipment, notify the Warehouse Manager, and complete required reporting.
• Confirm powered industrial truck and equipment inspections are completed and that only trained, authorized employees operate equipment.
• Report incidents, injuries, near misses, property damage, leaks, rack damage, camera issues, and equipment defects immediately; preserve relevant information and evidence.
• Support preventive-maintenance checks and ensure equipment needing service is identified, tagged or secured as appropriate, and escalated.
• Ensure docks, aisles, exits, staging areas, and workstations remain clean, organized, and free of avoidable hazards.
• Escalate immediately when the warehouse is at risk of missing safety, quality, receiving, shipping, carrier, customer-SLA, staffing, inventory, container, or technology requirements.
• Communicate shipment and inventory exceptions to the Warehouse Manager with the order or shipment reference, known facts, business impact, action taken, and support needed.
• Coordinate with Order Processing and other departments as directed; provide accurate information and avoid closing or dismissing an exception before it is fully understood.
• Complete required shift reports, checklists, attendance inputs, training records, incident documentation, and operational updates accurately and on time.
• Bring recurring bottlenecks, unclear SOPs, layout concerns, device problems, and improvement ideas to the Warehouse Manager for review and standardization.
• The Supervisor owns daily execution: floor coverage, task assignment, adherence to the daily plan, first-level coaching, immediate issue response, shift communication, and timely escalation.
• The Warehouse Manager owns overall accountability: strategy, staffing approval, performance management, manager-level investigations, labor planning, budgets, vendor and agency management, technology coordination, facility planning, continuous improvement, and development of the supervisor.
• The supervisor may act on behalf of the manager only when coverage is assigned and must communicate material decisions, risks, and unresolved issues.
• 3+ years of warehouse or distribution experience, including at least 1 year in a lead or supervisory capacity.
• Working knowledge of receiving, putaway, inventory, picking, packing, ship verification, small parcel, LTL, returns, docks, and warehouse safety.
• Ability and willingness to work hands-on across warehouse positions for training, verification, and short-term operational coverage.
• Strong floor-leadership, delegation, communication, coaching, organization, urgency, and follow-through skills.
• Comfort using WMS/OMS, shipping systems, RF scanners, printers, spreadsheets, email, dashboards, and structured first-level troubleshooting.
• Ability to operate warehouse equipment safely; required certifications must be obtained and maintained as applicable.
• Ability to work the assigned operational schedule, including opening, closing, overtime, or adjusted hours when required.
• Experience with Sellercloud, ShipBridge, Skustack, Skustack Lens, carrier portals, or similar systems.
• Experience supervising both permanent and temporary employees.
• Experience in e-commerce, retail-compliance, LTL, home-goods, bulky-product, or 3PL operations.
• OSHA, 5S, forklift, train-the-trainer, or process-improvement training.
• Spend the majority of the shift standing and walking throughout a large warehouse, including docks, storage aisles, staging areas, and workstations.
• Safely lift, push, pull, or assist with materials consistent with company policy and applicable accommodation requirements.
• Work around powered industrial trucks, trailers, loading docks, warehouse machinery, noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
• Use computers, mobile devices, scanners, printers, cameras, and other warehouse technology throughout the workday.
• Strong floor presence, clear task ownership, and timely escalation.
• Safe, organized, and SOP-compliant daily execution.
• Accurate and on-time receiving and shipping performance.
• Employees trained, coached, and cross-trained with documented follow-up.
