Electrical Engineering Supervisor

Location: Sanford, ME
Pay: $100,000–$110,000 per year

A well-established manufacturing company in the Sanford, ME area is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineering Supervisor to lead the electrical engineering department, oversee engineering projects, support new product development, and drive safety, quality, process improvement, and customer-focused initiatives.

This is a full-time, salaried opportunity offering $100,000–$110,000 per year with a consistent Monday–Friday schedule. The Electrical Engineering Supervisor will directly oversee two Electrical Engineers and two Electrical Technicians while working closely with operations, engineering, commercial, and development teams.

What You’ll Do

• Directly supervise assigned employees, including interviewing, hiring, training, performance management, and addressing employee concerns
• Assess staffing needs and make recommendations to support department goals
• Lead safety initiatives, projects, and activities within the department
• Ensure team members correctly follow work instructions, procedures, and established standards
• Review procedures and identify opportunities for improvements within and across departments
• Develop and implement plans to improve department processes and performance
• Represent the department during internal and external ISO-9001 audits
• Lead department activities focused on quality and customer satisfaction
• Represent the department at customer complaint meetings and facilitate issue resolution
• Assign work tasks and follow up to ensure effectiveness and completion
• Monitor KPIs and communicate results to direct reports and internal customers
• Lead new process implementations and ensure compliance with established requirements
• Participate in monthly cost center and project report-outs
• Participate in the annual budgeting process
• Prepare and direct the preparation of electrical engineering drawings, schematics, and standards
• Utilize CAD systems and apply strong engineering technical knowledge to support department objectives
• Ensure engineering work meets applicable regulatory standards, including UL, CE, and regional requirements
• Coordinate Engineering Change Requests (ECRs)
• Coordinate ERP and Configurator interactions
• Support ERP processes related to engineering, sales order configuration, and case management
• Ensure successful transition of new product concepts into commercialized products using product lifecycle management and project management frameworks
• Work with development and commercial teams to pursue and maintain intellectual property, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets
• Apply knowledge of Biosafety Cabinets, NSF requirements, UL fluid flow, and mechanical and electrical subsystems
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean concepts and tools
• Lead Kaizen events and support the use of 5-S, Standard Work, Quick Changeover, and Value Stream Mapping
• Understand and participate in the stage-gate process and associated project deliverables
• Manage projects and provide guidance to team members in project management
• Encourage the use of Lean tools to identify and eliminate waste, including scrap, rework, transportation, motion, waiting, inventory, overproduction, overprocessing, and under-utilization of people
• Reinforce a customer-focused mindset by ensuring associates consider the customer's end use and needs in their daily work
• Perform other duties as assigned

What We’re Looking For

• Previous engineering leadership or supervisory experience
• Strong electrical engineering technical knowledge
• Fluent and knowledgeable with CAD systems
• Experience preparing electrical engineering drawings, schematics, and standards
• Understanding of applicable regulatory standards, including UL, CE, and regional requirements
• Understanding of ISO-9001 structure and experience participating in internal or external audits
• Knowledge of Biosafety Cabinets, NSF, UL fluid flow, and mechanical and electrical subsystems
• Working knowledge of Lean manufacturing concepts, including 5-S, Standard Work, Quick Changeover, and Value Stream Mapping
• Experience leading Kaizen events and continuous improvement initiatives
• Understanding of stage-gate processes and project deliverables
• Experience managing projects and guiding team members through project management processes
• Knowledge of ERP systems for engineering, sales order configuration, and case management
• Experience coordinating Engineering Change Requests (ECRs)
• Ability to work effectively with engineering, development, commercial, and operations teams
• Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
• Ability to focus teams on quality, customer needs, safety, and continuous improvement
• Ability to identify opportunities to eliminate waste and improve processes

Leadership & Project Management

• Directly supervise 4 employees, including 2 Electrical Engineers and 2 Electrical Technicians
• Plan, assign, and direct departmental work
• Lead employee training and development
• Monitor department KPIs and communicate results
• Manage engineering and improvement projects
• Guide team members through project management activities
• Lead new process implementations
• Participate in budgeting and cost center reporting
• Support successful commercialization of new product concepts
• Coordinate cross-functional engineering and commercial activities
