The Associate Buyer, Supply Chain Management (SCM) will carry out and support the tactical SCM plans and objectives for acquisition of materials, supplies, equipment and services used by the Company while meeting cost, quality and timeline requirements. A most successful Associate Buyer will be self-motivated to engage in timely and efficient transactional work, with effective cross-functional partnership, communication, and follow-up to achieve critical deadlines and objectives. This position is required in person at South Windsor facility.
Role & Responsibility
Work with vendors to secure goods and services in support of day-to-day operations at the best price and service guarantee.
Maintain accurate and timely delivery of parts and components through managing supplier relations.
Provide clear and timely updates via email, presentations and meetings.
Track and evaluate supplier performance.
Identify vendors which are performing below expectation and work to improve their performance.
Obtain and share business-pertinent information by observing, receiving, and otherwise acquiring necessary information from all relevant sources in a timely manner, and elevating issues when relevant.
Collaborate cross-functionally to identify and close operational vulnerable gaps.
Encourage and build mutual trust, respect and cooperation among team members and supplier partners.
Job Requirements
Education & Experience:
• BA/BS degree with 2+ years of experience.
• MA/MS degree with 0-2+ years of experience.
• Good understanding of purchasing and supply chain management
• Certifications such as CPSM, CPIM and CSCP, and APICS a plus.
Knowledge & Skills
• Knowledge of basic SCM processes and procurement principles
• Negotiation skills for pricing and deliveries
• Excellent communications and teamwork skills.
• Business acumen and some financial background helpful.
• ERP systems and MS Office skills.
