Housing Counselor

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of individuals facing homelessness? Our client is seeking a dedicated Housing Counselor to join their team and provide essential support to individuals and families in need. This role involves assisting clients in achieving stable housing and sustainable employment through comprehensive case management and resource coordination.
Responsibilities of the Housing Counselor
Conduct comprehensive client assessments to gather financial, employment, housing, education, and health information.
Develop and implement re-housing and stabilization plans tailored to each client's needs.
Provide exceptional customer service to clients, staff, and walk-ins, ensuring timely responses to inquiries.
Offer case management and support for emergency assistance clients, including housing search advocacy.
Coordinate supportive subsidy plans and facilitate furniture/moving assistance for clients.
Ensure rental units meet health and safety standards as per program guidelines.
Develop and coordinate support systems to promote independent living and family stabilization.
Make appropriate referrals to social services, educational, and medical resources.
Monitor and verify the quality and effectiveness of services provided to clients on a regular basis.
Maintain and update client data in web-based systems and ensure accurate virtual file management.
Prepare monthly reports for the Finance Department and funders.
Manage a caseload of clients, maintaining thorough documentation for tracking purposes.
Requirements of the Housing Counselor
Experience in case management or a related field, particularly with housing or social services.
HUD Certification Required
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with diverse populations.
Proficiency in using web-based systems for data management and reporting.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge of local social services and resources is a plus.
