Masis Staffing is seeking an HR Generalist for a local non-profit in the Holyoke, MA area.

This position will be between 30-40 hours per week with a pay rate of $25-$28/HR, depending on experience.

This position will be a contract role with strong potential to become a long-term permanent role.

You will carry out responsibilities in the following functional areas: benefits administration, employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment, and employment law compliance.
Responsibilities:

  • Administer HR plans and procedures for all organization personnel; develop and implement policies and procedures; prepare and maintain the employee handbook and the policies and procedures manual
  • Administer the compensation program and monitor the performance evaluation program
  • Responsible for the overall benefit plan administration.
  • Coordinate and conduct recruitment and selection efforts for staff, interns, and volunteers. manage background checking including EEC requirements.
  • Perform new employee orientations including coverage of the employee handbook, etc.
  • Supports the employee professional development needs of the organization.
  • Actively manage and promote positive employee relations addressing employees concerns from issue to resolution.
  • Maintain accurate and up to date employee files.
  • Implement and maintain digital human resource information system (HRIS) records and compile reports.
  • Manage all employee leave programs and unemployment claims.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment and benefits laws and regulations
  • Participate in ongoing training to maintain Human Resources information and skills, keeping up on changing legal information, policy changes, and changing labor laws.
  • Contributes to human resources and organization success by welcoming related, different, and new requests; helping others accomplish job results.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Volunteer and Intern Management & Engagement

  • Recruit, onboard, and train organizational volunteers and interns.
  • Develop a strong training schedule and content for all interns and potential volunteers
  • Support volunteer on-boarding process including interviews, CORI, onboarding paperwork, orientation and training. Ensure compliance with EEC regulations.
  • Assist with Bloomerang Volunteer, the database of volunteer information, including service hours and specialized skills and provide monthly/quarterly/annual volunteer reports as requested.
  • Work closely with Program Directors and others to provide support, safety and supervision to volunteers and interns when requested.
  • Provide staff with support and training on how to successfully utilize volunteers and interns.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education/experience
  • Three to five years of experience as a Human Resources Generalist, preferably in a non-profit, mission driven environment
  • Human Resource certification preferred
  • Ability to create, implement and maintain a full range of HR related systems and programs.
  • Ability to positively influence HR-related actions of individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Committed to providing excellent internal service to the organization.
  • Possess outstanding communication and collaboration skills.
  • Proficient MS Office skills, Payroll software experience a plus
  • Excellent communication written and verbal skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee and business information
  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and dedication to the mission of the company.
