Junior Subject Matter Expert (Jr. SME)

$25 – $27 per hour (based on experience)
We are seeking a Technical Suppression/Alarm Specialist (Jr. SME) to join a growing fire and life safety support team. This is a full-time, in-office position providing expert-level support on fire alarm and suppression systems, focusing on inspections, repairs, and technical proposals.
As a Jr. SME, you’ll work under the direction of a senior industry expert to support internal teams, customers, and vendors in delivering compliant, accurate, and cost-effective fire protection solutions. This role is perfect for someone with a background in fire life safety systems, technical quoting, or field service coordination who is looking to transition into an office-based support role.
Review scopes of work, validate pricing and necessary equipment, and prepare proposals for repair and inspection services.
Act as liaison between vendors, customers, and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance and clear communication.
Support and manage technically complex or recurring work order issues, coordinating with external vendors as needed.
Provide remote escalation support for fire alarm system issues; assist dispatch with detailed vendor instructions if needed.
Review and validate vendor recommendations and quote changes; authorize or recommend alternative solutions.
Analyze open service orders, prepare blind quotes, or follow up with vendors for needed information.
Maintain accurate documentation and reporting for project status and resolutions.
Support internal staff by developing technical resources such as SOPs, training materials, or workflow documentation.
Perform other duties as required.
High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree in technical or related field preferred.
6 months to 1+ year of experience in fire life safety, estimating, or a related technical support role.
Familiarity with fire alarm panels, sprinkler suppression systems, kitchen hoods, and other fire safety equipment is highly desirable.
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX is a plus.
