Process Engineer

Location: Sanford, ME
Pay: $70,000–$80,000 per year
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM
Job Type: Direct hire, full-time
Work Location: Onsite
Reports To: Manufacturing Operations Manager

A well-established manufacturing company in the Sanford, ME area is seeking a Process Engineer to improve manufacturing processes, reduce costs, increase productivity, and support the development and implementation of new manufacturing technologies.

This is a direct-hire, full-time, salaried opportunity offering $70,000–$80,000 per year with a consistent Monday–Friday schedule. The Process Engineer will work closely with manufacturing, safety, and engineering teams to improve production performance through Lean manufacturing, process development, automation, robotics, and additive manufacturing.

What You’ll Do

  • Create detailed work instructions and visual aids to support production productivity and quality standards
  • Estimate production setup and run times, material costs, and perform time studies for cost analysis
  • Propose, sponsor, and lead projects focused on improving manufacturing performance, reducing costs, improving yields, and reducing cycle times
  • Apply Lean manufacturing tools to identify and eliminate waste throughout production processes
  • Analyze workflow, space requirements, and equipment layouts to improve manufacturing efficiency
  • Assist in designing testing methods to evaluate process capabilities, establish standards, and validate process requirements
  • Work with plant safety and engineering teams to ensure manufacturing processes, equipment, and proposed improvements meet applicable safety requirements
  • Create and maintain production data and Routings (Bills of Operations)
  • Assist with the selection, installation, setup, and startup of machines and equipment within production areas
  • Support machine programming, workholding, and fixturing activities
  • Support collaborative robotics (cobot) applications from identifying opportunities and developing concepts through programming, integration, and continuous improvement
  • Help drive the adoption and expansion of 3-D printing and additive manufacturing
  • Use rapid prototyping and production tooling to move ideas from concept to the shop floor
  • Focus on doing the job right the first time to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Use Lean tools and concepts to identify and eliminate waste, including scrap, rework, transportation, motion, waiting, inventory, overproduction, overprocessing, and under-utilization of people
  • Apply systemic thinking by evaluating processes from end to end and identifying root causes of problems
  • Participate in individual and team activities focused on improving the flow of information and materials
  • Perform other duties as required

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field such as Process Engineering
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and process improvement
  • Self-starter who can work independently with minimal supervision

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and customer satisfaction

Engineering & Process Improvement

  • Develop and maintain manufacturing work instructions and visual aids
